Painted between 800 and 1100 AD at Tsodilo by progenitors of the current San. Probably linked to shaman trance dancing. Called van der Post’s panel as the author Larens Van der Post visited and wrote about the panel in his book Lost World of the Kalahari. There are about 4500 paintings in a 10sq kilometre area ,making it one of the Most dense rock art sites in the world. Tsodilo became a world heritage in December 2001 being listed as a cultural heritage site.
