Founding Institutional Partners:
ICCROM (International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property) is an autonomous intergovernmental organisation located in Rome, Italy. It was created by UNESCO in 1956 and is concerned with the conservation of all types of movable and immovable heritage. The organization is known for the scope and quality of its training programmes and for having one of the richest library resources in the field. Today ICCROM has 102 member states from throughout the world.
National Museums of Kenya (NMK) comprises 16 regional museums and 8 site museums which fall under the administration of headquarters in Nairobi. Originally established in 1908, it has progressively expanded to include over 20 research and service departments. NMK is also responsible for the management of sites and monuments throughout the country. It coordinates a number of regional projects in different fields and hosts, among others, the Centre for Biodiversity and the East African Herbarium. The NMK is world-renowned for its departments of Palaeontology and Archaeology, both of which have contributed immensely towards the understanding of human origins.
