CHDA is an international non-governmental organization dedicated to the preservation, management and promotion of cultural heritage in Africa through a programme of training and development support services. It has a full-time staff of 3 persons and is located in Mombasa, Kenya.
Since its inception in 2000, CHDA has become recognised for the quality and innovative character of its training and development support programmes and activities that it provides to professionals and institutions responsible for movable and immovable heritage in English—speaking sub-Saharan Africa. CHDA works in close collaboration with these institutions and is supported in its programmes and activities by funding and technical partners throughout the world.
For its future activities, CHDA intends to pay special attention to ensuring the better utilization of museum collections for public programmes and to making museums play a positive role in the lives of children.
